Story

Yakup Oğuz

He started in Erzurum and carries on in Fethiye. A short introduction.

Where did you start?
In Erzurum, as an apprentice. That's where I learned the scissors — you start with a broom and years later you're the one at the chair. I've been in Fethiye for three or four years now.
What did Fethiye change?
Summer here is a different city. Men from all over the world sit in the chair and every one of them wants something else. It keeps you learning — if there's a new cut around, I can't rest until I can do it.
You also work outside the shop.
I do. Villas, hotels, boats — wherever you are. I bring the kit, and I work exactly the way I work in the shop. Most wedding mornings go like that.

Written from notes taken with Yakup; it will be edited into his own words.
